Why Does Saint Francis Home Need Your Help?

Given the funding gap between the actual cost of care per resident and the payments we receive, the amount needed on average to bridge the gap per resident is $1,650/month.

  • Cost of care per resident averages $3,300 per month
  • Currently:

Because Saint Francis Home subsidizes over half of our residents’ room and board, the Home is challenged with making up this income in other ways.

Every year, Saint Francis Home seeks about $1.4 million in philanthropic support and grants to bridge the funding gap, update and replace equipment, and maintain and renovate its aging buildings, the oldest of which was built in 1955.

How Your Gifts Make an Impact!

Many of the residents of Saint Francis Home would have few to no options for quality assisted living facility because of their limited income.  According to the Department of Social Services, Saint Francis Home provides a home to more Auxiliary Grant residents than any other Assisted Living Facility in Virginia.

100% of the Home’s residents are Low Income (80% less than Median Local Income); 95% are Very Low Income (50% less than Median Local Income); and 66% are Extremely Low Income (30% less than Median Local Income).

– Based on the Primary Metropolitan Statistical Area (PMSA) median yearly income levels, as of November 2020.

Saint Francis Home makes quality care an affordable reality… helping the growing number of Americans who can’t even afford the average costs of associated with Assisted Living Facilities.

Resident care is based on the fundamental Catholic belief that human life is sacred and every person is precious. An essential aspect of our mission is to enhance the life and dignity of each of our residents.
